Application: Bauxite ore is delivered from the mine to a flat storage warehouse at the start of the production process.
Challenges: Bauxite ore is often stored in large flat storage warehouses where material volume is very difficult to estimate. A BinMaster 3DLevelScanner MVL system – which can employ two to 32 scanners to measure multiple points on the material surface – offers the only solution for estimating the volume of material stored in large flat storage warehouses. The data from multiple scanners is synchronized in the 3DVision software and outputs aggregated level and volume information and provides a visual presentation of the contents of the warehouse.
Alumina Powder Storage
Application: The final powdered alumina material is stored in large silos.
Challenges: Alumina powder is stored in silos that can reach 100 feet (30 meters) in diameter and up to 200 feet (60 meters) in height. In addition to the vast amount of material stored, these silos generally have multiple filling and emptying points, making it extremely difficult for end users to monitor the silo’s inventory level and volume. The BinMaster MVL multiple scanner system offers accurate, real-time level and volume measurement with 3D visualization of the silo contents. The data enables improved inventory management of finished goods, while the 3D visualization detects buildup that can occur inside the silo from time-to-time. This is important for scheduling maintenance and cleaning when necessary, in order to help avoid interruptions in the filling and emptying processes.
