The Teflon^® cap and lower Teflon^® ball seal the SmartBob II mechanical cavity completely eliminating problems created by dust contaminating the unit when it is not taking a measurement. Should the Teflon^® cap stick when a measurement cycle is initiated, the sensor probe will begin to descend and the ball that is crimped to the cable directly above the cap will drop and strike the cap with the full weight of the sensor probe to dislodge it. The top Teflon^® ball is there to protect the cable and crimp when retracting up into the standpipe of the SmartBob II.
